5 month skin contact Rousanne - Review from Gary Walsh

Only a minor amount of funk here, pretty much is a lightly floral fresh style with a little spice, honey and subdued tropical fruit. Light bodied, fleshy, chalky texture, orange and mandarine flavour with acidity keeping it pretty trim. Some meatiness too. Nice to drink. Good to see established wineries having a crack at something different. 90 points Gary Walsh - September 4 2014 - www.thewinefront.com.au

#GoesWithRoussanne - Salmon, wilted iceberg, bacon, peas

Blog full fork

The next instalment of our dishes matched with our delicious 5 month skin contact Roussanne is from our Cellar Manager, Peter. This one has been passed around the office for a while now. Again, it has been a little adapted - Pete loves brussel sprouts in place of the iceberg - and I have to admit I've been converted to them! (give it a go - no, really, they are delicious!) Serves 4

#GoesWithRoussanne - fig & fennel chicken

Blog full fig & fennel chicken

Sometimes we do have it pretty tough here. A beautiful (almost) Spring day & lunch outside under the trees... All in the name of product research. Yes. It is tough, but well, you know what they say! 2013 Butchers Block White - wait a few more years to get more from it.

The full Rhone thing, with varieties sourced from the Stonewell and Bethany vineyards. Distinctive gingery apricot lift of viognier dominates the nose but the rich marsanne and roussanne take over. Gets some French oak treatment to bring another level of complexity into the palate. A wine that drinks well now but wait a few years to get more from it. 92/100 (Best drinking: Now to 2021. Alc: 14%)
