' It puts on a dance in the glass'

2018 Turkey Flat Mataro - 94 Points

“Don’t mind if I do. This is a grunty red with personality laid on thick. It tastes of ironstone, wild herbs, fennel, port wine jelly and dark leather, with both smoky/reductive notes and chocolatey oak wafting through. It’s not your standard fair, let’s say. It chops and churns, rumbles and rolls. It offers plenty on the nose and even more on the palate, though it remains fresh, frisky and buoyant. It puts on a dance in the glass, its heels scuttling across the floor, dragging tannin like a cape”. - Campbell Mattinson
