Bright fuschia; as elegant as always, made by a team that has developed great expertise with the style; offers an array of gently sweet red fruits on the mid-palate, then a balanced dry finish. Rating: 94 Points.

ASW RETAIL HONG KONG PR, Summer Sipping - 24/7/2009
Rose sales are booming around the world with greatest growth in English-speaking markets. Last year Rose sales increased by 4 percent of all wine shipped to Hong Kong. This suggests that there is great potential for the growth in sales of rose wines. Turkey Flat Rose 2008 from Australia’s Barossa Valley, a blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolcetto, has been a leader in this growing Hong Kong market. 100 BEST AUSTRALIAN WINES 2009 - Matthew Jukes, 2009
This is very much the d'Artagnan of the bunch in this year's four musketeer roses. With a misleading colour, there is much more power and depth to the palate than might at first appear. This is a really intriguing wine. Spice and perfume makes Turkey Flat disconcertingly pretty too, and it packs a punch that could easily take on a menacing steak sandwich.

THE ADELAIDE REVIEW - Nick Stock, February 2009
Turkey Flat has installed itself among the Barossa's top-flight group of rose makers and has developed a loyal following that stretches far and wide. They drink it in Gouger St, St.Kilda, Bondi, Brisbane and beyond. It's a populist style with quality packaging, the clear custom bottle letting the bright pink juice beam from within. It's made from a number of varieties, just over half grenache, the rest shared between shiraz, cabernet and dolcetto. Fragrant and sweet smelling, almost Muscat-like, the collection of grapes used brings all manner of berries into play. The palate's well crafted with just enough sweetness at play.
Rating: 90 points.

TASTE FOOD AND WINE 2009 – Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer
You may not have noticed it but this wine has become more and more grown up in recent years and the reason for this is that Turkey Flat Rose has progressively decreased in sweetness by half over the last four years. This makes it a fresh, tight, clean style with lifted rose petal aromatics and a beautifully lively palate. It has great balance and it’s much classier than it used to be.

WBM 100 - November 2008
One of the country's best roses just got even classier. It has progressively decreased in sweetness by half over the last four years, making it a fresh, tight, clean wine with lifted rose petal aromatics and a lively palate. Also one of the most impressively packaged on the shelf! Rating: 93 Points

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD - Huon Hooke's pick November 25th, 2008
An eclectic blend of Grenache with Shiraz, Cabernet, and Dolcetto. There are some herbal, stalky, cabernet-like aromas, while the palate is smooth and silky-soft with lots of fruit flavour, a little sweetness and a lick of tannin that helps dry off the finish. Serve chilled. 90/100 Food: Antipasto

THE ADVERTISER - TONY LOVE, October 2008
This combination of four varieties - grenache, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and dolcetto - has led to very pretty mid-pink tones with a fresh white cherry fruit feel in its aromatics followed by its distinctive house - style dry, savoury line in its flavour spectrum. Lingering sophistication. 93 points

MY SHOUT with Glen Humphries, January 2008
A few weeks ago I took to the task of mentioning the wine maker Turkey Flat and their excellent Rosè as many times in one coloumn as I could get away with. To my surprise , it seems the people at Turkey Flat read the Mercury and it is a surprise, given that the vineyard is in the Barossa Valley. Not only that, they took pity on my whining and sent me some of their Rosè. Which, of course, means they are truly excellent people. I'd found their Rosè by chance during a drive through the Barossa Valley with a mate. He was driving, so I made sure I "tasted" as much wine as possible. I'd never tasted a Rosè before, nor had I even heard of the variety before we walked into Turkey Flat cellar door. I tried some, because it was alcohol and it was free. A few minutes later, I left with a bottle of what has since become one of my favourite wines.

REDISCOVERING ROSE – Tim Rutherford. April 22, 2009
This top-notch Barossa Valley wine maker shows off the brilliant color of its Rosé in a custom bottle that, despite its 750 ml standard size, feels and looks much smaller - and much more elegant. But this Rosé doesn't stop with good looks - it's got the legs to compete in the flavor race as well. The wine, a blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Dolcetto, delivers big aromatics that lead into a dry-style Rose packed with savory character and a very sophisticated finish. I adore Barossa Valley wines - and this Rosé is no exception.

AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION 2009 James Halliday
Blush-pink; the complex base wine varieties pay dividends; while fresh and light, there are layers of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry fruits; fruity rather than sweet.
Rating: 94 Points.

TASTE FOOD & WINE 2008 - The Best Wines of 2008, Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer
Turkey Flat is still the leader in the top class rosè stakes on account of the savoury elements that are packed in alongside its unutterably fragrant strawberry and raspberry fruit. Like Charlie's, this is another 'light red' rather than rosè wine. If you could only choose one wine to drink with the finest Indian cuisine imaginable, here is your date.

ROBERT PARKER’S WINE ADVOCATE – Issue 173, October 2007
The Provencal-styled 2007 Rosé is medium pink with bright aromas of strawberry and raspberry. It has a velvety texture, intense flavours, excellent concentration and a lengthy finish. It would do very well on a Thanksgiving table.
Rating: 90 Points.

ADELAIDE ADVERTISER TOP 100 WINES, November 2007
'Clean and fresh pink hues with lovely clean berry and light plum aromatics followed by a juicy mouthful of berries and a touch of sugars and acidity, balancing cleverly with fruit weight and right in the zone for a rosè style that meets many tastes and food fashions.'
Rating: 91 Points.

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD - GOOD LIVING, Huon Hooke. November 27, 2007
Made from Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet, and Dolcetto, this has slightly sweaty overtones to its lolly, cherry-essency nose. It is light and soft to taste, balanced and refreshing; not overly powerful or long, but terrifically quaffable.

DON’T BUY WINE WITHOUT ME 2007 – Stuart Gregor
A few years ago when a misguided mate backed the then-hapless Crows against the glorious Lions, the wager was for a magnum. What arrived in the mail was a magnum of this rose, and you can imagine the reaction. But on reflection, what a great idea. Its always utterly gluggable, and think of the times you order a second bottle. A good lunch with friends saw the end of it ‘toot sweet’. Why don’t more people do this?
Rating: 5 Stars.

TASTE FOOD AND WINE 2007 – Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer
This is a pretty wine in every way; suave bottle, stylish label, beautiful bouquet and the kind of flavour that will stop you in your tracks. The Turkey does a total sleight of hand, appearing much lighter than it really is. On the one hand it’s a juicy, fruity, cranberry-infused pre-lunch glugger, but on the other it’s actually quite a big wine, with enough oomph to cope with a big steak. The size and intensity is the intrigue of this unlikely Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolcetto blend, rather than its overt weight. This is one of the best roses made anywhere on the planet, and it’s remarkable that you can pick it up on special for $17. It’s just too easy to drink.

DECANTER – 1st June, 2007
Turkey Flat has been family owned since the 1860s. The Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolcetto fruit comes from a vineyard set aside for rose. Aromas of red summer fruits and strawberry cheesecake lead to a dry yet ripe palate with crunchy fruit and perky acidity.

THE AUSTRALIAN – August, 2007
"One of the best Roses on the planet!"
When two of the leading wine critics in the world Matthew Jukes (UK) and Tyson Stelzer (USA) come out with such a statement, then you know that the wine is special. When other leading judges concur, then it's truly exceptional;
"A knock out bouquet of strawberries and cherries, terrific fruit and plenty of body as well as flavour volume…Excellent 90 pts" Robert Parker
"One of the best…bright fragrant spicy cranberry flavours and finishes nice and dry" Max Allen
Yet the ultimate judges are the wine drinking public and with Roses the fastest growing segment of the wine market they have never been more popular. For food-friendliness and sheer drinkability over the summer months they’re hard to beat. Little wonder that the Turkey Flat is flying out of the cellar door.

THE WINE LIST 2006 - Matthew Jukes
'Made from a bizarre and wholly original blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Dolcetto, this is one of the most ballistic rosès I have seen. With a beguiling cranberry and spicy-red-berry nose and a plush, medium-weight palate, this is a very erudite wine. Bone-dry and well balanced, this is Australia's most complex rosè that can be drunk and every occasion imaginable.'

BEST BUY WINES - Max Allen. Gourmet Traveller Wine, August 2006
It's always a joy when the new Turkey Flat pinkie appears each year, usually only a few months after the grapes have been plucked from the vine. Its a joy because not only is it one of the first Roses to hit the market, it is also often one of the best. While many other pink wines tip the alcohol scales at 14 percent (or more), this contains just 12 percent, which translates to freshness and juiciness in the mouth...It has bright, fragrant, spicy cranberry flavours and finishes nice and dry.

Pink fairy floss tones grab your attention to begin, with aromas of spicy cherries and quite a deal of complexity in the flavour profile from Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet, and Dolcetto varieties. Very modern with a little pucker. Fashionably poised.

THE AGE EPICURE – November 21, 2006
One of the early drivers of the rosé bandwagon, this is a clean, no-nonsense style as bright and fresh as a jockey’s silks before a race. A blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolcetto, it is fresh with delicate raspberry aromas and not too much sweetness to cloy the finish. It likes light, summery food.

HERALD SUN – Quaffing with Paddy Kendler August 9, 2005
Peter Schulz thoroughly deserves his reputation for producing one of our best roses, and the ’05 from his Turkey Flat winery in the Barossa Valley is delightfully true to form. The unusual blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dolcetto results in an interesting combination of fruity flavours neatly packed within a balanced body. Best served cool to cold but not icy.

SUNDAY LIFE – Sally Gudgeon 4 September, 2005
Made from Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolcetto, this has strawberry. Raspberry, and cherry flavours with a crisp, fresh finish. Serve it with Bruschetta.

ROBERT PARKER’S WINE ADVOCATE – Issue 161, October 2005
One of Australia’s finest roses is Turkey Flat’s 2005 Rose, a deep, bold offering made from a blend of 52% Grenache, 26% Shiraz, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Dolcetto. Its light to medium ruby colour is accompanied by a big bouquet of sweet strawberries, cherry jam, a hint of currants. Medium-bodied, with enough acidity to balance moderate quantities of residual sugar, it should be enjoyed over the next 6-8 months.

MATTHEW JUKES – Rosé Future, 2004
Turkey Flat is an historic estate in the Barossa Valley, and it is widely acknowledged as one of the New World’s foremost rosé producers. Made from a clever and original blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Dolcetto, this is one of the most impressive rosés I have tasted in years. With a beguiling cranberry and red berry nose and a rich, luxurious, medium-weight palate , this is a grown-up wine. Dry and meaty and more than a match for carnivorous fare, this is a wine that will impress with its bravado, complexity and value for money.

WINEFRONT MONTHLY – Campbell Mattinson, May 2004
Very good rose - there should be more like it. Smells of roses and herbs, has a suggestion of sweetness on the palate but is more about dry, coll, Turkish Delight length. Satisfies at every turn. Top class.

Here they come... pink wines from the vintage just gone are popping up in fridges across the nation, but few are as thrillingly vibrant, spicy, crisp and glowingly pink as this Grenache blend from the Barossa: drink with garlicky antipasto or a coarse-textures porky terrine.

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD – UNCORKED Spring 2004
Grenache rosé is made all over the world, and it has a long history in our Barossa Valley. This Barossa pinky is all about raspberry and spice fruit that’s fresh and juicy with a hint of sweetness mid-palate. Its finishes pleasantly dry.

THE WINE ADVOCATE – Robert Parker, October 2004
Turkey Flat is one of Australia's finest sources for full-throttle, reasonably dry rosé. Their medium-bodied 2004 Rosé, a Grenache/Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Dolcetto blend, exhibits big, exuberant, strawberry and cherry aromas, good colour, plenty of structure, and surprising size as well as flavour.

Grenache, Shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and Dolcetto were blended by Peter Schulz to give a twist to his 2003 rosé. Sweet raspberry and violet aromas abound, and the wine's soft, generously fruity palate is restrained by a crisp acid finish. Drink it, well chilled, while it's young and fresh. It's great with spaghetti vongole.

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD - Good Living, Ben Canadiers – Top 10 Drops, 12th November 2002
No sickly sweet lolly water here; this is the real rose deal: herbal, satisfying, fruit-rich and with a touch of Angostura Bitters on the back palate.

DIVINE MAGAZINE – Ben Canadier, November/January 2003
A blend of Grenache, Cabernet, Shiraz, and Dolcetto, this is just gorgeous: round, mouth filling, packed with cherry and berry fruit flavour and with a lingering, balanced finish. Cordial for grown-ups and one of the best we can recall. Highly recommended.

AUSTRALIAN GOURMET TRAVELLER – Ben Canadier, February/March 2003
A blend of Dolcetto, Shiraz, and Cabernet here. Appropriately sweet and generous at the beginning, and then the herbal element takes over mid-palate. This is a big mouthful of wine.

DONNA HAY MAGAZINE, Summer 2003
Strawberries, raspberries and cherries jump out of this bottle. There is some sweetness left in the wine but it is so well balanced that you simply enjoy it. Divine with ripe tomato, garlic and basil pasta.

THE WINE ADVOCATE - Robert Parker, 23rd August, 2003
An excellent winery, Turkey Flat Vineyards has produced a 2002 Rose (a blend of 27% Shiraz, 38% Grenache, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Dolcetto) offering loads of strawberry fruit, medium body, and fresh lively aromatics as well as flavours. It should be enjoyed over the next 6 months.

Drink with: Antipasti.

SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION, Huon Hooke 2003
This is a clean, fruity, slightly grassy wine. Perhaps a bit of a Cabernet in it. Well balanced. Excellent fruit. It's not too sweet but it's grapey with esters, very fresh and youthful.
