Peter Schulz - Vigneron
Peter was born into a long established Barossa Valley grapegrowing family who have been involved in the region's culture and community development since its earliest days.
He was appointed as a trainee viticulturist with G. Gramp & Son Pty Ltd (now Orlando Wyndham) in 1970 and was promoted to Barossa Valley vineyard foreman and in 1986 was made National Grower Liaison Manager.
From 1987 to 1990 he was Group Viticulturist for Wine Resources International, a large vineyard development group with significant new plantings in the Coonawarra, Padthaway and Bordertown areas of SA as well as the Languedoc-Roussillon area of Southern France. During this period he was responsible for vineyard purchase, management and development and providing advice to site vineyard managers as well as visiting the French development on a number of occasions.
In 1990 Peter and Christie started their own viticultural consultancy providing management advice and assistance to a number of key Barossa wineries and private growers.
Also in 1990 the Turkey Flat Vineyards winery was launched with Christie as manager. Peter oversees all aspects of the viticultural and oenological production carefully maintaining the quality and integrity of Turkey Flat Wines.
CHRISTIE SCHULZ - MANAGER / SALES & MARKETING
After leaving school, Christie studied at the South Australian School of Art majoring in photography. She pursued her career in professional photography specialising in the industrial and advertising area. She also spent some time working in retail management with companies such as the interior decorating firm Laura Ashley, Jag Clothing and in wine sales with Seppelts and Yalumba.
Her current role is in the management of the Turkey Flat label with particular emphasis on product development, packaging and marketing. She also administers the associated consulting and vineyard management companies.
