2016 Mataro - on a high right now

In sensitive hands, Barossa Mataro doesn't have to be aggressive, powerful or boisterous. It can be fragrant, refined, intricately structured and eminently ageworthy, with a purity of lingering black fruit precision. Turkey Flat is on a high right now, and even Mataro knows it. 92 points. 2016 Turkey Flat Barossa Valley White

Capturing Barossa floor Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier with fragrant elegance and refreshing finesse calls for quite some wizardry, particularly in the presence of extended skin contact and partial oak maturation. Turkey Flat has achieved all this with masterful execution while showcasing the distinctive texture and complexity of these varietals. 93 points Tyson Stelzer - The Barossa Mag

2015 Shiraz - a touch of hedonism

Deep, dark colour with a trace of purple; the bouquet sweetly ripe and rich, with lush fruit and abundant ripeness. Pepper and clove also. A dash of star anise. The wine is full-bodied and ample with generous fruit sweetness backed up by savoury tannins, which are supple. The flavour is rich and generous and there is a touch of hedonism about it. Very good. 93 points Huon Hooke.

2017 Rosé - bang on for a new season

Always a consistent pleasure, this grenache rosé offers immediate attraction. This year the usual list of minor varieties like cabernet, mataro, shiraz and marsanne aren't listed, to highlight its grenache core. A pale pink shine, its granmotherly handbag of musk, and herbal/floral fragrances and, more importantly, its proper mouthfeel of strawberry pith and texture with apple and strawberry juiciness, is all about that grenache in a youthful rosé dress. Its tempered spice and all-round delicious drinking is bang on for a new season. Tony Love, The Advertiser  Wednesday September 6 2017

2015 Shiraz - bloody brilliant!

Turkey Flat Vineyards in the Barossa Valley is currently celebrating its 170th Anniversary, something that only a handful of Australia’s 2,468 wineries have been able to do. To celebrate this amazing milestone they are having a very special dinner on [Saturday] evening and will be trotting out some of their finest, special wines to be enjoyed along with a meal from one of Adelaide’s hottest restaurants, Africola I have been a long-term fan of the Turkey Flat wines, from its Barossa Valley White (Marsanne/Viogner/Roussanne) through to the Butchers Block Red (Shiraz/Grenache/Mataro). The Shiraz is also awesome and is made from grapes grown on very, very old vines, it is oak fermented and given extraordinary TLC (tender loving care).
